Photoshopping the icons to go onto the cardboard packaging, each section of the packaging will have a different icon, to illustrate whats inside. the packaging is biodegradable and will take a maximum of four weeks to fully decompose.
After deciding we want to create some packaging that will contain three sections, one for the each bottle, and one for the chain, i set about creating and quick mock up of how this may look
When coming up with a packaging idea, we initially thought of creating a variation on an egg box, but then we thought, why does it need to open and close with a lid? the product could simply slide in and out of the package, snugly put inside so it will not break. We researched into some existing products that we could create something similar to. After creating a mock- up in photoshop of two water bottles inside an egg box we decided that perhaps this idea was not the best use of space for transporting our bottles. We spend so long refining details for the bike and how that would be packaged it would be a shame to create a less thought out final product to hold the chain and the bottles. I started researching into the idea of creating it the packaging out of a biodegradable material. I came across saw dust and cardboard that you let pets, hamster and rabbits sleep in for warmth. this material is biodegradable and takes approximately 4weeks to full biodegrade.
After doing a bit of research, i discovered that egg cardboard packaging is in fact biodegradable! this was a win win situation as it was the material we felt best suited the product packaging from the start! |
